Business Intelligence Solution Architect

The Business Intelligence Solution Architect is responsible for engineering the overall solution to ensure proper integration of hardware and software, including network, data extract and load software, DBMS software, and operating systems. This individual designs the architecture and functionality of the overall technical solution, ensuring that it is within architectural standards and can be realistically developed, delivered, deployed, and supported over time.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • General knowledge of industry trends in one or more various industries, specifically as it relates to business intelligence, data warehouse, and information management
  • Solid knowledge of and experience in:
    • Microsoft offerings and capabilities as they relate to business intelligence
    • Conducting quality assurance through the system development life cycle
    • BI reporting software vendors and respective tools (Microsoft (SSAS and SSRS), SAP (Business Objects and Crystal Enterprise), IBM (Cognos), MicroStrategy, Information Builders, Oracle, SAS)
    • Data integration technologies (e.g., Microsoft, IBM, Informatica, Oracle, SAP, SAS)
    • Database and data warehouse technologies (e.g., Microsoft, Teradata, Oracle, IBM)
  • General understanding of data and information one or more various industries utilizes for decision making, and the data caveats surrounding that data (e.g., business rules, data sourcing, etc.)
  • Best practice knowledge specifically as it relates to business intelligence and data warehousing
  • 10 to 15 years progressive responsibility in Data Warehousing/Business Intelligence with at least 3 years working as a Solution Architect
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on exposure to MS BI toolsets (SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or some other field
  • Formal experience eliciting requirements for Business users and working with the technical team to develop comprehensive solutions
  • Knowledge of UML or Enterprise Architect is desired
  • A desire to work in a team environment that thrives upon meeting and exceeding clients’ expectations
