SYSLOGIC PARTNERS TO LINK HOSPITALS

June 20, 2007 - SysLogic Inc., a privately held corporation based in Brookfield, Wisconsin, has partnered with the Wisconsin Health Information Exchange, Milwaukee Health Care Partnership, the State Department of Health and Family Services and Microsoft in an effort to link the Emergency Departments of hospitals throughout Southeastern Wisconsin.

Presently, when a patient is brought into the emergency room, knowledge of their medical history is very limited. This lack of information hinders the physician's ability to provide the patient with the best possible care.

This lack of information hinders the physician's ability to provide the patient with the best possible care.

The Emergency Department Linking project will give emergency physicians access to patient information such as their most recent medical tests, prescription drugs they may be taking, outstanding medical conditions and recent admittance to another hospital's emergency room. Access to this information will help physicians make better decisions and avoid ordering unnecessary and duplicate tests.

SysLogic is the technology partner for the ED Linking project and is engaged to provide program management and project and technology planning. SysLogic also coordinates the hospitals involved in the project which currently include Aurora, Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare and Columbia St. Mary's. The remaining Milwaukee County hospitals will be incorporated into the project next year.

When the ED Linking project is complete, it will benefit both the hospital and the patient. Knowledge of a patient's medical history will allow hospitals to avoid ordering duplicate or unnecessary tests and save resources. The project is part of a larger plan to build a system for securely exchanging patients' medical information, not just across Emergency Departments, but throughout all areas of medical care in Southeastern Wisconsin hospitals.
